LEUCODERMA

Treatment of leucoderma (Vitilago) empirically is sure to be futile. It is mostly one sided disease. Individualization is the only successful way to cure leucoderma.

Boericke has mentioned only one medicine Arsenic. Sulph. Fl. for leucoderma. Phatak in his repertory mentions few remedies viz Alumina, Arsenic, Arsenic Sulph. Fl. Calc. Fl., Merc, Nat.Carb. Nat. Mur. Selenium, Sepia, Silicea, Sulphur .

I have seen some unsuccessful prescriptions for the treatment of leucoderma by Arsenic Sulph. Fl. Arsenic Alb, Lycopodium.

Now a days I do not find a single prescription with due attention to constitution of patient. Patent medicines and thoughtless remedies are mostly prescribed.

Few guided points as I have collected from authorities and experience are incorporated:

BORAX - Red parts become white (lips).

FERUM - Red parts become white in Arsenic. Patient has low haemoglobin.

MERC. S - Red parts become white in Mercurial constitution (i.e. bleeding gums, Flabby imprint tongue, sweat +++, thirst +++)

ARSENIC ALB. - Very white skin. Dirty, pasty looking skin, scaly skin.

THUJA - White parts on calves of legs. In babies (effect of vaccination). Brown spots if present with white spots.

LYCOPODIUM - Leucoderma going from up to down.

LEDUM P - Leucoderma ascending from down to up.

SILICEA - White spots on face. It is found in many children (cured many cases with Silicea 1M, 10M, C.M.). Great sensitive to cold. Sweaty palms and soles.

CAUSTICUM - Persons of dark complexioned and rigid fibers, subject to catarrhal affections in air passages.

SYPHILLINUM - White spots commenced from chest, back or face. History of pustule eruption on different parts of body.

APIS - White skin wax like appearance. Surrounding red white patches or white patches with spotted red area.

CALCARIA CARB - White spots and scattered red patches with irritation. Spots appear glistening.

CHELIDONIUM - Leucoderma having history of Jaundice. Craves very hot food.

LYCOPODIUM - Liver is at fault. Involvement of lungs associated complains.

ARSENIC SULPH FL. ­- Respiration difficult. Everything feels tight in chest. Scaly, cracked skin. Such subject suffers from Leucoderma. Syphilitic squamous (thick plates of skin come out).

ACID FLOURIC - Grayish white skin. Desire cold and cold food, drnk. Liver is at fault from any cause.

KALI CARB - Leucoderma from pulmonary cause. Dry skin. Hair falling out. Craves sweet. Hypothyroid.

NAT. CARB - White skin. Phlegmatic person. Suffering from chronic acidity, flatulence. Milk is intolerable.

AURUM MET - Spots like albuingo, Rheumatism of back, sacrum, hands and feet > by heat. Mental symptoms marked. No desire to live.

PSORINUM - White patches on left temple. Pessimistic, chilly,skin complains < heat or sun. History of injury follows leucoderma.

NAT. MUR - Leucoderma patient is anemic, suffer from catarrhal trouble, tuberculoses and scrofulous habit.

CALC. FL. - White skin in tubercular or syphilitic constitutions patient. Patient is tormented from thoughts of future.

SEPIA - Leucoderma. Pimples on face of young girl.

ALUMINA - Weakness of parts of body swollen feeling in foot, in the throat.

SELENIUM - Liver enlarged or liverat fault. Abuse of the system by taking salt or sugar or tea or lemonade.

Leucoderma having weak constitution emaciates, weakness like to lie down, cannot tolerate heat.

PHOSPHORUS - Loss of adipose tissur, puberly developed early. Tubercular diathesis. Bleeding easily from any part.

PHOSPHORIC ACID - Leucoderma of a patient whose system has broken down from any previous condition.

SULPHUR - After vaccination if pustular condition develops such as pustular eruptions on body or otorrhea.

In my hand many cases of leucoderma first appearing in lips are cured by Borax.

In a case of history of jaundice suffering from leucoderma both husband and wife are cured by Lycopodium and Chelidoinum.

A baby of two years of age is cured leucoderma by Thuja. Bad effects of modern Immunisation.

A girl of ten years old has extensive leucoderma of both feet was attempted by Psorinum as there was history of severe injury but failed. Subsequent use Thuja C.M. few doses controlled fully.

In fact treatment of leucoderma is painstaking as it requires study of the constitution, diathesis and causes of every step after applying a dose.

Patience and time are essential for the cure of leucoderma.
